This practice exam covers the core knowledge and skills required for the English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) portion of the TSIA2.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

The final TSIA2 ELAR exam is administered as a computer-adaptive test. This means the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on your previous answers.

There is no fixed number of questions, but you must complete the required sections to determine your placement. For students who do not meet the college readiness benchmark on the primary multiple-choice test, a non-proctored, diagnostic test may be immediately triggered.

Importantly, the ELAR component also includes a mandatory WritePlacer essay. You will be given a prompt and asked to construct a persuasive essay, which is scored automatically based on organization, focus, development, and grammar.

The exam is not strictly timed; however, most testing centers allot several hours for completion to ensure students can work carefully through the content and the essay.
