This examination does not test your practical skills in performing facials or makeup application. Instead, it measures your comprehension of the Texas administrative rules and statutes. The core topics covered in the TDLR Esthetics Laws and Regulations exam include:

• The structure and function of the TDLR as it relates to barbering and cosmetology.

• Eligibility requirements for esthetician licensure, renewal processes, and continuing education.

• The legal scope of practice for an esthetician in Texas, defining exactly what services you can and cannot legally perform.

• Detailed regulations regarding sanitation, sterilization, and health and safety standards for salons and specialty shops.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

You must prepare for a computer-based, written examination. The exam typically consists of approximately 30 to 40 multiple-choice questions.
