• Coding & Reimbursement Methodologies: Evaluating the assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS) and applying knowledge of various reimbursement systems, including IPPS, OPPS, and value-based purchasing.

• Auditing and Compliance: Conducting internal audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements, including the prevention of fraud and abuse.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

The actual RHIA certification exam, administered by AHIMA, is a comprehensive, four-hour, computer-based test. While Domain 4 is a major segment, it is important to understand the full exam format. You will face a total of 180 multiple-choice questions. Of these, 160 are scored, and 20 are pre-test questions used for future exam development; you won't know which are which.
