The PTCB exam is a computer-based test designed to measure critical knowledge needed by pharmacy technicians.

  • Format: The exam exclusively consists of multiple-choice questions.

  • Number of Questions: There are a total of 90 questions on the exam. It’s important to note that only 80 of these are scored, while the remaining 10 are unscored "pretest" questions randomly placed throughout the test and used for future exam development. You will not know which questions are unscored.

  • Time Limit: Candidates are given a total of 2 hours at the testing center. This includes 1 hour and 50 minutes to complete the actual exam, and 10 minutes allocated for a tutorial and a post-exam survey.
