What the Course Entails and Exam Details

Area III is Architectural Design and Site Planning.

This area tests the ability to solve a comprehensive design problem, applying concepts from the previous two areas to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing, and code-compliant architectural solution.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

The final ALE is a written, paper-and-pencil examination typically administered over two consecutive days.

Currently, the structure consists primarily of weighted multiple-choice questions for the theoretical components, alongside the significant Area III design problem which may require drafting or simplified drawing inputs.

The passing general average rating is seventy percent (70%), with no grade lower than fifty percent (50%) in any given subject area.

The time limits are strict: Area I and II are usually allotted half-day sessions (approximately 4 hours each), while Area III for Architectural Design and Site Planning often takes a full day (approximately 8-10 hours).

You must bring your own calculator (PRC approved models), technical pens, pencils, eraser, and an architectural scale.

Drafting tables are provided at the testing venue.
