• The Muscular System: Major muscle groups, their origins, insertions, actions, and the physiology of muscle contraction.

• The Nervous System: Organization (CNS and PNS), basic cellular structure (neurons), transmission of nerve impulses, and cranial nerves.

• The Circulatory and Lymphatic Systems: Blood flow pathways, components of blood, heart anatomy, and lymphatic circulation.

• Other Systems: A foundational overview of the Respiratory, Endocrine, Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive systems as they relate to massage therapy.

• General Physiology and Tissue Repair: Cellular metabolism, standard tissue types, and the stages of tissue healing.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

The full MBLEx is a comprehensive assessment covering several domains beyond A&P, but you will encounter numerous questions specifically testing your knowledge in this crucial area.

Here is what you can expect in the final official examination format:

• Exam Format: Multiple-choice questions.

• Question Delivery: The MBLEx is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT), meaning the difficulty adjusts based on your performance. There is no option to go back or change previous answers.

• Number of Questions: 100 questions total, covering eight domains (of which A&P is one).

• Time Limit: 110 minutes total appointment time, including a mandatory security agreement and orientation.

• Passing Score: A passing score is a scaled score of 630 or higher (on a 300-900 scale).

• A&P Domain Weight: Approximately 11% of the exam questions focus directly on Anatomy and Physiology, but this knowledge is also the foundation for related areas like Kinesiology and Pathology.

Once your eligibility is verified and you receive your Authorization to Test (ATT) letter, you can schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE testing center. Pearson VUE offers hundreds of authorized physical testing centers across the country, which are secure, supervised environments. The exam is not currently available to be taken through online proctoring from home.
