Description

The Champions Residential Inspections SAE course is a specialized elective designed specifically for licensed Texas real estate agents who are completing their first mandatory Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE) renewal cycle.

This course is engineered to bridge the gap between real estate sales and the technical world of property assessment. It is not designed to license you as a professional inspector, but rather to "arm" you with critical knowledge about the inspection process. By understanding what inspectors look for and how they report their findings, you can better manage client expectations, avoid potential liability issues, and guide both buyers and sellers through the tense option period more effectively. If you want to set yourself apart as a knowledgeable and protective fiduciary for your clients, mastering this material is essential.

About this Quiz

What the Course Entails and Exam Details

This comprehensive course provides a foundational understanding of the residential construction and inspection landscape that impacts a real estate transaction. Students will dive deep into foundational construction terminology, learning to articulate the components of a home from the foundation up to the roofline.

Core topics included in the curriculum are: an analysis of structural systems (including foundations, framing, and roofs); mechanical systems (such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical components); and recognizing environmental hazards, including specific information on issues like Stachybotrys, commonly known as 'Black Mold.' Furthermore, the course teaches agents how to identify and avoid "problem houses" early in the process and provides a thorough review of common questions that consistently arise during the inspection period.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

Upon completion of the coursework, you must pass the final course exam to receive SAE credit.

This is a comprehensive examination that tests your retention of the course material and your ability to apply inspection knowledge to real-world real estate scenarios. The exam format is multiple-choice. Students must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher.

Depending on your chosen delivery method (Online Interactive vs. Correspondence), the exam may be open-book or closed-book. For Online Interactive students, the exam is typically proctored online through Champions and is timed. If you do not pass on your first attempt, you may be allowed a second attempt; however, if you fail twice, TREC rules require that you retake the course from the beginning before taking the exam again.

How to Study and Exam Centers

The key to passing this exam is thorough review and active practical application of the terminology.

Begin by carefully reading the required textbook or downloadable PDF materials provided by Champions. Utilize the "unit quizzes" at the end of each chapter; you must understand why a correct answer is right and why the distractors are wrong. To maximize your chances of success, utilize the Champions Residential Inspections SAE Practice Exam multiple times. A strong practice test will not only test your knowledge but also get you accustomed to the phrasing of the multiple-choice questions you will encounter on the final exam. If you are a physical learner, walk through homes and try to identify the structural and mechanical systems discussed in the book.

Your method for taking the final exam depends on your course format. If you completed the course via Online Interactive methods, the final exam will be accessed directly through the Champions School of Real Estate online portal. If you took the course through Online Correspondence (reading the book independently), you must schedule your exam through the Champions portal. Correspondence exams may require proctoring at a physical Champions School of Real Estate campus testing center, which are located throughout Texas in major hubs like Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.

Job Opportunities from the Course

While this SAE course does not license you as a home inspector, it directly enhances your current role as a real estate professional and can unlock higher-tier career paths within the brokerage model. By adding this specialty knowledge to your resume, you become more valuable to both your broker and your clients.
