You must possess a deep understanding of standard Laws, Regulations, and Basic Principles, which includes the Structural Pest Control Act, pesticide safety protocols, the correct storage and transportation of chemicals, and environmental stewardship, especially concerning water quality.

Furthermore, the core trade portion of the exam focuses on standard General Pest identification, biology, and habits. You must be able to recognize the physical features and life cycles of common urban pests, from different species of ants and cockroaches to subterranean termites (only for identification, not treatment) and typical structural rodents. In addition to identification, you will be tested on standard Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles—emphasizing non-chemical control methods first—as well as the proper use of pesticide application equipment and finish wiring, which refers to standard trim work associated with structural repairs if applicable.

What to Expect in the Final Exam
