What to Expect in the Final Exam

The final ACE certification exam is a computer-based, comprehensive test. It consists of 150 multiple-choice questions, out of which 125 are scored, and 25 are unscored, experimental pre-test questions. You will not know which questions are which, so it is vital to answer every question thoroughly.

You are given a total of 3 hours (180 minutes) to complete the exam. The scoring is on a scaled range from 200 to 800, with a passing score of 500 required to achieve your certification. The exam emphasizes practical application over rote memorization, testing how you would handle real-world client scenarios.

How to Study and Exam Centers

Effective preparation requires a balance between structured study of the ACE material and practical application.

Establish a consistent study schedule that allows you to work through the main textbooks at a manageable pace. Utilize dynamic study aids, such as flashcards for key terms and practice quizzes for each chapter. The most critical component of your preparation will be taking full-length ACE practice exams to simulate the test environment, build your endurance, and identify weak areas for targeted review. Don’t just memorize answers; understand the rationale behind correct and incorrect choices.

For the exam itself, you have flexible testing options. ACE administers its exams globally through proctored environments. You can choose to take a live-proctored online exam from the comfort of your own home, which allows for increased flexibility in scheduling. Alternatively, you may choose to take the exam in person at an authorized, secure testing center located near you.
