It is designed for new CDL applicants, as well as current CDL holders looking to expand their driving privileges and increase their employment opportunities in the transportation sector.

What the Course Entails and Exam Details

• Loading and Unloading Passengers: Best practices for managing the process of passengers entering and exiting the vehicle to maximize safety and efficiency.
• Safety During Transport: Understanding specific rules for passenger conduct, seating, and common prohibited practices while the vehicle is in motion.

What to Expect in the Final Exam

When you arrive at a Utah Driver License Division office to take your actual passenger endorsement knowledge test, you should expect a format similar to what you encounter on the practice test. The real exam consists of multiple-choice questions based directly on Section 4 of the Utah Commercial Driver License Manual. While the exact number of questions and time limit may vary slightly by office, the core requirements for passing remain consistent.

• Format: The exam will be composed entirely of multiple-choice questions administered either on a computer terminal or sometimes in a paper format.
• Passing Score: To pass and earn your Passenger endorsement, you must correctly answer at least 80% of the questions. Reviewing the material thoroughly is critical.
• Specific Rules: All testing must be done without the use of study aids or cell phones; failure to follow these rules will result in an automatic failure. You must be prepared to demonstrate that you have synthesized the material and are ready for the safety responsibilities of passenger transport.
