SPED Insider Threat Practice Test

Communication barriers can significantly impact insider threat scenarios because they can lead to misunderstandings, misinterpretations, and a lack of awareness regarding security protocols. When employees are unable to effectively communicate important information about potential threats or suspicious behavior, it increases the likelihood of negligent behavior. For instance, if staff members cannot articulate their concerns or fail to understand security policies, they might not report suspicious activities or might inadvertently engage in risky behavior that exposes the organization to threats. Moreover, communication barriers can create an environment where employees do not feel comfortable voicing issues or seeking clarification on security measures, leading to unintentional infractions that enhance vulnerability to insider threats. Thus, the relationship between communication and security is crucial; improving communication can mitigate risks associated with insider threats, while barriers can exacerbate them.
