Tennessee Permit Practice Test

A young driver would need to complete an additional 6 months of driving under the Graduated Driver License (GDL) program if they receive a traffic violation. This requirement is in place to ensure that young drivers demonstrate responsible driving behavior before they can progress to a full, unrestricted license. Involvement in a traffic violation indicates a failure to adhere to the rules of the road, which is why the GDL program imposes this additional training period to help the driver improve their skills and understanding of safe driving practices. While being involved in a minor accident, driving during restricted hours, or failing a driving test are serious issues, they may not directly result in this specific penalty of additional driving time under the GDL program. The focus of the GDL program is primarily on ensuring that young drivers are not just gaining experience behind the wheel but are also learning to follow driving laws and regulations responsibly. Therefore, a traffic violation, which reflects non-compliance with these laws, leads to the requirement for further driving experience.
