NOLA Driving Institute - Driving (Road Skills) Practice Test

Checking your mirrors anytime pedestrians or vehicles may cross your path is essential for safe driving. This practice allows you to be aware of your surroundings, helping you anticipate any potential hazards that could arise. By regularly scanning your mirrors, you maintain a better situational awareness of other road users, including cyclists, pedestrians, and other vehicles that may be nearby or in proximity to your path. While some of the other options may seem valid in limited contexts, they do not emphasize the importance of broad situational awareness. Checking mirrors solely in heavy traffic, when changing lanes, or only when parking does not encompass the critical need for continuous vigilance on the road, especially in dynamic environments where pedestrians and vehicles frequently interact.
