Certified Restaurant Server Practice Exam

The term that refers to maintaining tables by removing items that guests no longer need is pre-busing. This practice ensures that the dining experience remains pleasant and uncluttered for the guests. By efficiently removing used dishes, utensils, and any other items that are no longer necessary, servers help to create a more comfortable environment, allowing guests to enjoy their meal without distractions. Pre-busing can also enhance table turnover rates, as a cleaner table can be prepared more quickly for incoming guests. This practice is particularly important in busy dining establishments where maximizing efficiency while providing excellent service is crucial. In contrast, the terms cleaning, resetting, and organizing refer to different aspects of table management and service, but do not specifically denote the act of proactively clearing away unnecessary items during a guest's meal.
