Speech 101 Practice Test

The statement focuses on persuading the audience regarding the moral implications of the CRISPR genetic technology, which is a matter of ethical judgment. This indicates that the speaker is addressing the audience's beliefs and values about what is considered right or wrong. A persuasive speech on a question of value seeks to influence the audience's attitudes or opinions about the moral or ethical standing of a particular issue, in this case, the technology in question. In contrast, an informative speech aims to share knowledge and provide facts without attempting to sway the audience's opinions. A persuasive speech on a question of policy would propose specific actions or changes in behavior rather than focusing solely on ethical or moral considerations. Demonstrative speeches are designed to instruct the audience on how to do something, often including a step-by-step process, which does not align with the aim of proving a moral stance. Therefore, the correct classification of the speech is that it addresses a value-based argument about the ethics of genetic technology.
