Principles Of Vascular Reading Practice Test

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) primarily affects the arteries that supply blood to the limbs, commonly leading to insufficient blood flow. This reduced circulation can result in pain during activities such as walking (known as claudication) due to oxygen deprivation in the muscles. The compromised blood flow can also cause skin changes, such as ulcers or non-healing wounds, particularly in more severe cases or when the disease is prolonged. These conditions arise because the body cannot deliver adequate nutrients and oxygen to tissues that are needed for normal function and healing, which can further lead to serious complications if the condition is not managed properly. Thus, pain and ulcers in the limbs are direct clinical consequences of PAD, making this SAMPLEchoice the most appropriate.
