Pennsylvania State Extension Cool-Season Turfgrass Pest Management Practice Test

Nimblewill, when it grows in cool season lawns, typically exhibits a blue-green color. This characteristic distinguishes it from other grasses commonly found in such environments. The blue-green hue arises from the specific pigment composition within the plant, which can give off a bluish tint under certain light conditions, especially when compared to other cool-season grasses that may appear more standard green or yellow. Understanding the unique coloration of nimblewill is important for identification and management purposes in turfgrass maintenance. This color can also indicate its presence and growth condition in the landscape, which is beneficial for turf managers aiming to identify and address grass type differentiation and potential pest issues effectively. The other options do not accurately represent the typical coloration of nimblewill in established cool-season lawns.
