Delaware Security Guard Practice Exam

When a guard suspects drug use while on duty, documenting the observed behavior and reporting it to a supervisor is the appropriate course of action. This approach is grounded in protocol and safety. By documenting what they have observed, the guard creates an accurate record that can be used for further investigation or action. This is crucial in ensuring that any potential issues are addressed factually and systematically, reducing the risk of miscommunication or escalation. Reporting the matter to a supervisor is vital as it ensures that the situation is handled by someone in a position of authority who can take the necessary steps, whether it be conducting an internal investigation or involving law enforcement if needed. This method aligns with workplace policies and helps maintain a safe environment by allowing trained professionals to manage potentially sensitive situations. In comparison, other options may not effectively address the concern. For instance, confronting the individual directly could escalate into an unsafe situation for the guard or the individual involved. Ignoring the behavior could lead to further issues, including potential harm to others. Alerting other guards to keep watch might create an environment of suspicion without addressing the root of the problem or following proper procedures. Therefore, documenting and reporting remains the most effective and responsible response.
