Oregon Motorcycle And Moped Practice Test

Turning safely on a motorcycle is about controlling speed first, then where you look, how you manage the throttle, and how you steer. The recommended sequence is slow, look, roll, press. Slow down to a comfortable, controlled speed before you enter the turn. Keeping your speed in check helps you maintain balance and gives you time to react to any surprises in the curve or on the road. Look through the turn toward your intended exit. Your eyes guide where the bike goes, so scanning the path and choosing a smooth line helps you avoid obstacles and pick a safer exit. Roll the throttle smoothly to maintain a steady speed and balance. Avoid hard braking or sudden acceleration in the turn, which can disrupt stability and lean. Press on the inside handlebar to steer into the turn. That input initiates the lean needed to follow your chosen line and complete the curve, and you should keep looking where you want to go as you roll and press. This order matters because starting with speed control sets safety, looking establishes your path, throttle control keeps you balanced, and steering input guides your actual movement through the turn.
