Correct Answer:

To allow for the deployment of a wheelchair lift/ramp from a parked vehicle.

Explanation:

The access aisle next to an accessible parking space serves a critical function in assisting individuals with disabilities. It provides the necessary space for deploying wheelchair lifts or ramps from vehicles. This area is designed to ensure that those using mobility aids can safely get in and out of their vehicles without obstruction. In addition, the access aisle helps to enhance safety during these transfers, minimizing the risk of door impacts on adjacent vehicles or other hazards that could occur if space were limited. This dedicated area is essential for promoting accessibility and independence for individuals with disabilities, as it allows them the room they need to maneuver safely.
