Maricopa County Fair Rabbit Practice Test

The term for a kit in the early stages of development inside the doe is "embryo." In mammalian reproduction, an embryo is the stage that follows fertilization of the egg by the sperm cell, during which the zygote undergoes cell division and begins to develop the necessary structures that will eventually form a fully developed kit or rabbit. This phase is critical, as it establishes the foundation for all subsequent growth and development of the kit. The other options do not pertain to the early developmental stages of a kit. The term "entry" does not have a specific biological meaning in this context. "Eye color" refers to a physical attribute that becomes apparent later in development, while "ear canker" is a medical condition affecting the ears of rabbits and is unrelated to developmental stages. Thus, the correct answer centers on the definition and understanding of an embryo in relation to rabbit reproduction.
