Michigan Landscape And Geography Practice Exam

Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge is indeed located within the boundaries of Michigan, specifically in Saginaw County. It is part of a larger network of wildlife refuges managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and plays a crucial role in conserving the diverse habitats and species native to the region. This refuge serves as a vital stopover point for migratory birds and provides a habitat for a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and numerous bird species. The ecological significance of Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge is enhanced by its wetlands and upland areas, which support both flora and fauna, making it an important site for environmental education and wildlife observation. In contrast, the other choices pertain to major national parks and preserves located in other states. Everglades National Park is situated in Florida, Yellowstone National Park is primarily in Wyoming (with parts extending into Montana and Idaho), and Big Cypress National Preserve is also found in Florida. Therefore, these options do not relate to wildlife refuges in Michigan, reinforcing the importance of Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge as the correct answer.
