Oklahoma Subject Area Tests (OSAT) Art Practice Test

Mixing blue and yellow together creates green, which is a fundamental concept in color theory. Primary colors are those colors that cannot be created by mixing other colors. In the traditional color wheel used in art, blue and yellow are considered primary colors, and when they are combined, they produce green, which is a secondary color. Understanding the relationships between primary and secondary colors helps artists and designers to effectively mix colors for their work. The choice indicating blue and yellow as the combination for creating green demonstrates a foundational knowledge that underpins much of visual art. Other combinations, such as red with yellow or red with blue, would not yield green, but rather orange or purple, respectively, which is why those options do not represent the correct answer.
