Tennessee Permit Practice Test

For a learner's permit holder in Tennessee, it is essential to have a licensed driver aged 21 or older seated in the front passenger seat while driving. This requirement is established to ensure that the learner has access to an experienced adult who can provide guidance, support, and immediate assistance if needed. This experienced driver is responsible for monitoring the learner’s actions, helping them to develop safe driving habits, and intervening in case of any dangerous situations. The regulation emphasizes safety during the learning process by ensuring that the supervising driver has sufficient maturity and experience to handle potential driving challenges. While having a parent or guardian in the vehicle may be beneficial, they are not required under the law if there is a qualified licensed driver aged 21 or older present. Similarly, the presence of another licensed teenager or a licensed driver aged 18 doesn't satisfy the legal requirement, as they do not meet the age criteria specified for supervising learner drivers.
