NCARB Continuum Education (CE) Practice Exam

Division 11 is associated with which domain?

Equipment Special Construction Furnishings Finishes

Correct Answer:

Equipment

Explanation:

Division numbers in the CSI MasterFormat map to broad product groups, and Division 11 is the Equipment domain. This division covers equipment installed in a project that isn’t part of the building fabric or finishes, such as various types of built-in or fixed equipment that supports operation and use of the space (for example, kitchen equipment, laboratory equipment, or other specialized devices). It’s distinct from furnishings, which are movable or decorative items like furniture and window treatments, and from finishes, which cover surface treatments like paint, flooring, and wall coverings. Special Construction deals with unique or nonstandard construction systems, not general equipment. So Division 11 corresponds to Equipment.
