A watertight under-roof allows counter-battens to be fixed with unsealed wire nails, whereas an increased rainproof under-roof mandates hot-air welded counter-batten shoes. An increased rainproof under-roof requires full bitumen hot-melt asphalt, whereas a watertight under-roof only uses loose-laid microperforated diffusion foils. A watertight under-roof can only be installed on roofs with pitches above 45°, whereas an increased rainproof under-roof is restricted to flat roofs with slopes under 2°.
