Read the passage below before answering the question. Maya's Garden Adventure (1) Maya stared at the small wooden flowerbed in her backyard. Her grandmother had given her a packet of sunflower seeds on her eighth birthday. Maya carefully pressed each seed into the dark, damp soil and watered them gently with her small blue watering can. (2) Every afternoon after school, Maya ran outside to check the garden. For six long days, nothing changed. Just brown dirt lay under the warm spring sun. Maya began to worry that her seeds would never grow. (3) On the seventh morning, Maya saw a tiny green shoot pushing through the soil. She clapped her hands in excitement. By mid-summer, bright yellow sunflowers towered higher than the wooden fence, buzzing with friendly honeybees. According to paragraph 1, what did Maya's grandmother give her for her birthday?
