The capital of Mauritania is which city?

Chisinau Nouakchott Windhoek Mexico City

Correct Answer:

Nouakchott

Explanation:

Identifying a capital means pinpointing the city where a country's government is based. Mauritania’s capital is Nouakchott, a coastal city on the Atlantic that became the capital around the time of independence in 1960. It serves as the administrative and political center of the country today. The other cities listed are capitals of different countries—Chisinau is Moldova’s capital, Windhoek is Namibia’s capital, and Mexico City is Mexico’s capital—so Nouakchott is the correct choice for Mauritania.
