Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) F-5 Aerial Practice Test

The main idea is an automatic two-source to one-output connection that picks the active source based on pressure differences. Inside, a small shuttle (a ball or piston) moves in response to which input has higher pressure. When one side is higher, the shuttle shifts to seal that lower-pressure side off and create a passage from the higher-pressure input to the common outlet. The result is that the downstream circuit is fed by whichever source has the greater pressure, with no external actuation and without backflow into the other line. This also provides a simple form of redundancy: if one line drops pressure, the other automatically supplies the load. The other options don’t perform this automatic selection between two sources: a pilot valve is for actuating another valve with a small signal, a micron relates to filtration, and twist isn’t a standard valve type used for this function.
