Arizona State University (ASU) CRJ100 Introduction To Criminal Justice Exam 1 Practice

A primary concern of victimology is indeed focused on the psychological effects of being a victim. This field studies how victims experience crime and how those experiences can affect their mental and emotional well-being. Victimology seeks to understand the trauma, fear, and anxiety that individuals may face after being victimized, as well as the broader impact these experiences can have on their lives. Moreover, understanding these psychological effects can inform support services and intervention strategies aimed at helping victims cope with their experiences, as well as influence policies related to victim rights and assistance. This focus distinguishes victimology from other areas of criminal justice that may prioritize legal accountability, law enforcement's role, or broader societal implications of crime, which do not specifically target the victim's experience and recovery process.
