Safety Trained Supervisor In Construction (STSC) Practice Exam

Before beginning crane operations, checking for overhead power lines is essential for ensuring safety. The presence of overhead power lines poses a significant risk of electrical shock and potential electrocution when operating cranes. Operating closer to these lines can lead to accidental contact, which can result in severe injuries or fatal incidents. By assessing the environment for power lines before starting operations, operators can identify hazards and take necessary precautions, such as maintaining a safe distance from these lines or implementing safety measures like using non-conductive equipment and ensuring that operators are properly trained and aware of the risks. Addressing this safety measure first prioritizes the well-being of personnel and equipment, forming a critical part of comprehensive operational planning before any lifting activities commence. Other factors, such as load weight, equipment condition, and environmental factors, are equally important but come after ensuring that the area around the crane is free from dangerous overhead hazards.
